Runners, do you use insoles for your running shoes?

Do they help? What brand would you recommend?

Runners, do you use insoles for your running shoes?
I work at a running store and i recommend you get a good pair of running shoes first. That usually corrects most problems.

But for insoles the brand i would recommend hands down is Superfeet. There about $35 but work wonders. I personally used them and I love them. They are hands down the best insoles available before you move up into doctor made insoles
Reply:Absolutely not. The running shoe by design, is supposed to be light and very comfortable. Insoles add unnecessary bulk and may add to your discomfort. If you think that you need insoles, you're probably not using the best brand for you. Shop around, I know that there are running shoes out there that you won't need insoles for.
Reply:I used them for several years but, like the other poster recommended, swiched shoes and now I dont' need them!
Reply:I went to a PT and got specialised orthopedics fitted after I damaged my IT band. They really help.
Reply:YES! I got prosoft I think is the brand from walmart. There were only about $10 and they are fabulous. ( I have terrible knees)
Reply:I've tried them. Good shoes are often enough for most, but I certainly advocate additional cushioning if you're hurting from the pounding.

I've tried the RRS Ortho Runner Insole. It helped some. At $30+, I wasn't blown away.

I think spending commensurately more on shoes would achieve the same result.

I also found that in marathon training they didn't hold up as well as I would have liked. They moved some, even though they were professionally fit.

if you are having significant problems, an orthopedist can really make a difference too, especially if they are sensitive to athletes.
