Is there any insole suitable for diabatic patients so as to conform to foot their form?

i am a diabatic patient. while walking or driving i feel much pain in my foot. i am also not comfortable with any of my footwears as none of them have foot bed conform to my foot. i had one such which had some sort of foot bed which gave me some sort of comfort. some doctors suggested that i should go in for specific diabatic footwear. is that true ? then can you suggest me whether i can get one such footwear in india ?

Is there any insole suitable for diabatic patients so as to conform to foot their form?
I've been Diabetic for 34yrs and now also have a foot condition, Charco's foot and with the involvement and close watch of these three departments, diabetic, podiatrist and othotic, I now have a ankle boot type shoe I have to wear with soft insoles, not shaped but very comfortable. The boots are soft and high above the instep so that the toes do not have any irritation and wide enouph for the broad part of the mishaped foot. So quite happy with the shoe/boot. One gets a choice of colour and style from their catalogues which the orthotic clinic shows you when you are there for your appointments. Good luck.
Reply:i have never heard of diabeitc foot wear but i will look into it for you. i am diabetic and have problems with my feet too so i think i will speak to my doc about it too.

Nike MARY JANE shoes?

I have the nike mary jane shoes with the pink insole. since it's been so hot outside (and no socks are to be worn with these shoes) the insoles have become black. Its very noticable as the regular color of the insole is pink. the insoles are easy to take out so i was wondering what is the best way to clean the insoles???

Nike MARY JANE shoes?
I would spray them heavily with Shout Advance (this stuff is awesome got grease out of a shirt of mine that had been washed and dried several times) let it sit for a week spraying several times then toss them in the washer.

When the insole of a women shoe or sandal is marked with the silouette of the feet, what is this from?

Is this dirt or is comes from the sweat?

Do you mind this?

When the insole of a women shoe or sandal is marked with the silouette of the feet, what is this from?
the shadowing is from a combonation of dirt and sweat and skin cells that come off it would happen in your sandals too if you dont wear socks its something that occurs and if they dont like it they buy new ones which is why some women have so many shoes others dont care and only buy a few pairs but i dont care about it
Reply:Pressure, perspiration %26amp; natural oils. I only mind it if my shoes smell...which they don't.
Reply:It is a combination of perspiration, dead skin cells, if your feet are dirty it could be dirt too, it gets worn into the material over a long period of time by the friction of your feet. Yes it is a huge pet peeve.
Reply:It is the natural acidic oil that comes from skin. This is why fake jewellry doesnt last long either.

3/4 length orthotics help with sock liner/insole (to remove or replace)?

I recently got custom orthotics made by my podiatrist. I got the 3/4 length ones (some might call them half length). My podiatrist says to put them on top of the sock liner/insole and I should be fine but I find that it makes my shoe a lot tighter. Does anyone have this problem w/ those length orthotics? Should I get a thinner sock liner/insole or remove it completely and use the orthotic on its own?

3/4 length orthotics help with sock liner/insole (to remove or replace)?
I found the orthotics helped so tremendously, that I was willing to buy some new shoes that fit with the orthotics. If your present shoes don't work, try a different style of shoe. If removing the insole is a fix, then go with that. You could check with the podiatrist and see if there are certain styles of shoes that he recommends to relieve the foot pain you've experienced before you buy another pair.

What is a good insole for a waitress with high arches?

I work 4-7 hour shifts and I have really high arches. My feet are KILLING me! What insole should I get?

What is a good insole for a waitress with high arches?
When it comes to high arch insoles, I've tried them all. The best thing I have found it..... Arch support SOCKS! They carry them at Wal-Mart in the Women's socks section. The have a tight band around the arch and they work GREAT!!! Try them out!!
Reply:Gel inserts, the best...but also, wear support hose for your legs, this gives your feet some help as well.
Reply:Dr. Schols gels.
Reply:Unless you can get one that is specially made for your feet by a podiatrist, I would stay away from insoles. You would be better off getting a pair of shoes with high arch support. I have very high arches and Dansko and Birkenstock have worked well for me. If I wear tennis shoes, my orthodics are a must. Good luck. I know it can be extremely painful to be on your feet for long periods of time.

How do you clean the fabric insole of a pair of sandals?
Get an old toothbrush, scrub it softly in a circular motion, with a light detergent (baby detergent works well). Rub off suds with a warm wet washcloth. They'll be clean and odor free.

How does length of insole differ from the sole?

FYI, I'm referring to figure skates.

I'm thinking of getting my blades first before purchasing the boots. How does the length of the sole differ from the outsole[the one for mounting]?

For example, for a sole with 235mm or 9.25", what will the insole measure?

On the side note, how much space does thick socks take up in skates? I'm rather a stickler for skating in thick socks. I've no problems with it. Find it unhygienic to have the boot absorb majority of the perspiration.

Is there a fixed length that the insole differ from the sole? Like for all skates, it's 0.25" or something like that?

How does length of insole differ from the sole?
The insole question is probably one for a real boot expert (manufacturer) to answer as it may vary from one brand and model to another. As a higher level boot may have more layers for stiffness than a lower level boot, I am wondering if two different models of boots of the same brand were the same size, the actual inner to outer measurements may differ slightly. Just a thought - good technical question!

The blade length is determined by the measurement of the "outer" sole - toe to heel - minus about a 1/4 inch.

Generally, thick socks are not recommended. It may seem like the thickness would not make a difference, but it will allow more room for your foot to move around in your boot. This means there would be less support and possible blisters. When you break in skates with thin socks, the skates eventually mold to your foot (sounds gross, but the perspiration helps with that process). Molding to your foot gives it a custom snug fit for support. With thick socks, even if it's slight, it adds another layer to your foot size - the skates will be molded to your foot plus the socks (sidenote: skates should never be fitted with thick socks). Also, with perspiration, the thick socks would flatten out more . . . it may not be as snug a fit as when they were dry thus creating more room in the boot as you skate. The other argument with thick socks is that it could bunch up in certain areas to cause discomfort while skating.

That being said, if you have no problems with it, then do what is comfortable for you. At this point, changing to thin socks is probably not good anyway . . . I am quite certain that your foot would be slipping around a lot with thin socks in your boots - you would definitely feel the difference!

Hope that helped!!

Perscribed insole for a crooked back?

My wife is from Italy and uses a thing called a "Plantare" it is used to level her hips on one side due to scoliosis, a crooked back. Now I am in the USA, and I need to get one, who do I talk to about this, and what is that special perscribed insole called?

Perscribed insole for a crooked back?
You can go to any chiropractors...well ..not any..but good number of chiropractors do foot orthotics. Brand doesn't matter. They are custom fitted.

However, wearing heel/foot lift for scoliosis is something you want to approach very caustiously. Often times, the short leg seen on x-ray is just result of rotation and true leg length discrepency....

Only safe way to wear heel life for scoliosis patients is to do pre and post x-ray of with and without the orthotics and see if the curvature gets better or worse...

Linda (above), you don't want to lift your heel up like that without careful observation. that can be dangerous as it can make the curvature worse. Another caveat is that with scoliosis patients, heel lift is often not prescribed..rather we use foot lift. Heel lift creates inclination of the foot and that can be pretty damaging to your ankle and knee.

Also, the amount of lift is half of the actual radiologic measurement and only if true anatomical leg lenght discrepency exists.

Please do not do your lifts with make shift...this could have serious consequences..

even with patients without scoliosis, we have to be very careful or patient's condition could worsen..
Reply:I really don't know about that. I have scoliosis and one leg is a little shorter than the other. I just use a couple of heel pads in the shoe of the short leg to even things up.
Reply:There is a shoe store chain called Trade Home. They specialize in diagnosing all kinds of foot problems and sell many different types of insoles. I would talk to them. My husband's feet hurt terribly and these inserts have taken the pain away! It is truly remarkable!

Insole for shoes? My feet hurt after walking.?

Are there any runners out there who can reccomend a good insole for my running shoes? I walk/run several miles a few days a week and anything over 3miles kills my feet. I have a perma blister on my left foot that always seems to flame up and the arch of my foot hurts after a few miles. I have new good shoes but I am looking for an insole.

Or do my shoes just suck?

Insole for shoes? My feet hurt after walking.?
Honey, I think your shoes suck.

I've had those problems in the past-from blisters so shin splints so bad that I couldn't walk for two days-until I invested in a great pair of shoes. I only spent $65 which isn't bad considering how expensive they can get. I'm just starting off running again and having no pains. Make sure you stretch after warming up, and after your cool down. Stretching + good shoes=comfort.
Reply:SUPER FEET! You will love them. My husband had plantar fasciatis and they helped him out. He's on his feet all day. He wears them in all of his shoes. They are around $30 but worth the money.
Reply:I needed some arch supports and I got the brand- SPENCO- arch supports.....they are really great! just get them in your size-they sell them at Academy! And after a while, if those don't work, the shoes your wearing might not be the right kind for your feet......if its not that it might be that you need orthotics- it is custom made arch supports to fit exactly to your feet....but those are expensive so I would try the spenco's! Good luck!
Reply:Go to Bass Pro Shops if you have one near by...

They have a machine that you step on and it measures your entire foot, arch etc.. everything about your foot.. Then It tells you which insole you will need to have the most comfortable healthy step..

Dr scholls sport insole or springbak springsole?
I dont have much experience with springbak, but I did use Drscholls before.

I would not recommend using any insole, since the actual benefit is limited. I really didn't feel a difference, and my Dr. Scholls insole wore down within a month from all the sprinting, lateral movement, jumping, etc.

Definitely a waste of money for me. And it shifted around so much and scrunched up.

I think if you use it for recreational running or walking, it's ok. but for an intense sport like basketball, it's not worth it.

Reply:Dude....go buy some Birkenstocks....and place the sole into your everyday work boot....this is usually made of cork...which over time will conform to the shape of your foot....I used to put them in my fire boots....and they worked great especially on those structure fires where I would be in my boots for 8-10 hours at a time.....Good Luck with the feet Buddy....
Reply:you need to go to a foot Dr and have him make you some inserts custom made to your feet. they will stop the pain and help straighten your spine. they are costly though...about $400-600. they are well worth it as you can take them out of your boots and use them with any other shoe. if you can't afford that, buy an insole that is very stiff. I'm talking hard! you need to support your feet NOT cushion them. good luck...buddy

Reply:Go to a place like REI - a store or online if you have to. They have expert advice and people who work there would be able to help you get boots that fit for certain arch levels. Also, if you get blisters, try buying moleskin to put over problem areas. It's like putting a thicker band-aid on your feet so rubbing and pressure is less of a problem. If this isn't enough, maybe talk to a podiatrist.

There are other magnetic insoles on the market, but Nikken's have patented technology that I don't really understand but that produces a much more effective magnetic response than others do. How can I make walking in pumps less painful? Other than putting in insoles?

First I agree you need to practice. Wearing heels once a month rarely feels comfortable.

Second is to leave the callouses. They are natural cushions.

Third is to make sure you are getting the right size. Stop in a t areal shoe store and have have foot measured.

Buy several pairs of heels some low , some high, a large heel, a skinny heel, maybe a wedge. You can buy them at payless or Walmart or more expensive places. I have not been able to predict which shoes will be comfortable all day until I have worn them a few times.

Lastly, give your feet a break during the day. slip off you r shoes for a few minutes when no one is looking.

Good Luck!

How can I make walking in pumps less painful? Other than putting in insoles?
Firstly, I would pratice walking in them around the house. Even if its only for 15 minutes at a time, it really does help. Also, make sure your shoes aren't too high.

Secondly, I bought these great gel cushion that you can put in the balls of your shoes (especially those with higher heels) to make them more comfortable. The pressure on the ball of your foot is lessen by these gel cushions.
Reply:Bakers make some shoe pads that you can put under your shoes that give them more grip and make you able to walk in them all day.
Reply:First of all make sure that they fit you correctly. Many times people actually will get shoes that don't fit properly. If the shoe is to small or narrow it will pinch and squeeze your toes *ouch*. If the shoe is to big your foot will slide and may cause blisters. And you actually may not be able to wear pumps if you have to high of an arch or no arch at all. Personally, if I have to wear pumps... they come off when no one is looking!

Reply:I have problems with hot foot. Two things I've tried that seem to help, but not eliminate the problem -

I ride with regular socks, not cycling socks (unless it's raining). The little bit of extra cushion seems to help.

I buy my shoes a little bigger. About 1/2 size. Or wider, if possible. I also don't cinch them down really tight.

I have no scientific evidence to back any of this up, I just know that it does help me.

I tried switching pedal systems too, I went from spd's to looks. I didn't really notice much difference, except that look cleats wear out way too fast and cost way too much. How can u measre leg length discrepancy--where can you find adjustable insoles for 1" discrepancy?

You need to talk to an orthotist. My husband makes these things for a living so hes giving me the answer. You go to a physician they will measure you by having you stand while they check to see if your hips are even. They will give you a prescription to go to an orthotist for the shoes or inserts you need and a o%26amp;p technician like my hubbie will make them for you. Most insurance companies will carry the burden.

I am looking for information on the benifits that magnetic insoles have on your health?

try searching a professional health website like the health information center : http://google.com/coop/cse?cx=0071853080... it is a search website for health information from trusted websites.

I am looking for information on the benifits that magnetic insoles have on your health?
Magnets do absolutely nothing for you. They don't treat any conditions, they don't cure any conditions. It would be like putting a refrigerator magnet in your shoe. Totally worthless.
Reply:I found a very interesting study here. It demolishes any potential benefits magnets could have on your health. Hope you find it interesting:

http://www.quackwatch.org/04ConsumerEduc...

"Researchers at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine have reported negative results in a study of patients with heel pain. Over a 4-week period, 19 patients wore a molded insole containing a magnetic foil, while 15 patients wore the same type of insole with no magnetic foil. In both groups, 60% reported improvement, which suggests that the magnetic foil conveyed no benefit.

More recently, researchers at the VA Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study involving 20 patients with chronic back pain. Each patient was exposed to real and sham bipolar permanent magnets during alternate weeks, for 6 hours per day, 3 days per week for a week, with a 1-week period between the treatment weeks. No difference in pain or mobility was found between the treatment and sham-treatment periods.

Magnets have also been claimed to increase circulation. This claim is false. If it were true, placing a magnet on the skin would make the area under the magnet become red, which it does not."
Reply:The increased weight of the magnets will somewhat increase your exercise load for the day. Other than that, absolutely NOTHING - this is quackery.
Reply:This is an interesting topic because as is so often the case when it comes to the subject of an "alternative" modality,.. there are pro and con sides to the topic of efficacy.

Personally I can only share with you what I know from direct experience. ... I can tell you that magnetic field therapy is very valid and real. The body in fact has it's own magnetic field,.. just as does the earth we live on and the very atoms that make up the molecules and cells of your body.

If you do the research on medical data bases which are not readily accessible to the general public,... you can obtain literally hundreds of articles addressing the reams of scientific research that has been done related to magnetic fields in biology and the potential applications to the human body.

Did you know that modern medicine presently uses electro-magnetic field therapy to promote osteoclast (bone cell), production in cases where healing bone fractures are not progressing well on their own?

............. Magnetic fields do promote circulation. I can tell you this from personal experience. .......... I used to make a living in an occupation that daily caused me to suffer from tendonitis in one of my hands and forearm. ... I was afraid I would not be able to continue working in that occupation at the time, until I begin sleeping on a magnetic pad at night on my bed. ... The pad would noticeably increase the circulation to my arms (as I slept on my back), and heal up my tendonitis over night so that I was able to return to work the next day and complete another days income.

As far as the magnetic insoles are concerned,... my experience is that they only offer a very mild promotion of circulation in the soles of the feet. Depending upon the individual case, this may help in cases where someone experiences tired achey feet from their occupation or poor circulation. I doubt they would do much more than that, but some may find that differently. ....

Note: .... The magnets most commonly used in therapeutic devices such as insoles etc. ... are of such a mild strength that they are basically meant to duplicate what you would be getting from the earth itself if you were living say out in the wilderness and away from the concrete and steel and electrical fields etc of civilisation. Urban environments greatly cut us off from the naturally occuring earths magnetic field.

............ The earths magnetic field is a health promoting and balancing effect on the human body,... but of course we in modern civilisation have significantly cut ourselves off from that natural magnetic field and replaced it with environmental and technological pollution that in fact promotes stress and illness.

My 8 yr old has very bad flat feet the insoles are no good in his shoes. is there an operation for this?
He is still young, his feet are still growing. Any form of 'moulding' his feet may damage them, that's why you should always buy shoes that are totally flat inside the shoe. When he reaches about 16 that's when they are about to stop growing and only worry about his problem then. If you are really that worried, then the doctor should advise you.

The first step is making sure you have good and comfortable shoes with plenty of support.

There is also orthotics available but a much cheaper option would be to go and get yourself fitted for a good pair of shoes...

Try to talk to your boss or if you work for yourself and take a 5 minute sitting down break every 40 minutes, take your shoes off and massage your feet..

I am semi disabled and cannot rub my own feet comfortably so I bought a wooden massager which sits on the floor and I run my feet over it... It was only $15..

How do you know if your birkenstock shoes insoles need to be replaced?

With many Birkenstock shoes, the insole can be pulled out easily. It needs to be replaced if the insole is cracked, or if you find that it is wearing down from lots of wear. (If it is just black from normal wear, try using Paxton's Sandal Saver to clean it up.)

If your Birkenstock shoes are made more like the sandals, where the cork footbed is attached to the outer sole, (such as in the London style), replacing the footbed is more expensive and often it makes more sense to just get a new pair. Rebuilding Birkenstocks, where you replace this type of footbed, costs about $70 and the end result is not always a shoe that feels just like it used to.

How do you know if your birkenstock shoes insoles need to be replaced?

There was a phrase "Do not wear for long periods, 1 or 2 hours a day is ample" on the instructions.

I was wondering if I could wear them for longer hours or permanently for as long as I am walking?

I just bought a pair of plastic reflexology insoles; thought of putting them in my walking shoes permanently.?
The prongs tend to hit the same areas over and over again. I wouldn't be worried about over stimulating the reflex areas so much as potential irritation to your feet.

It probably makes more sense to spell yourself just to keep from over irritation. I doubt you can do permanent damage. think of it as exercise. Exercise is good for you unless you overdo it.

Reply:They might wear out prematurely but I don't think they will harm you.
Reply:The phrase "do not wear for long periods, 1 or 2 hours a

day is ample" is with a reason. The basic duty of these

insoles is to stimulate the nerve ending points of the major

organs of the body. Continuous wear will lead to continuous

stimulation which will over work them and could be

hazardous to one's health. It is like putting your legs

continously on accelerator of the car and not releasing it.

You know what will happen. Same applies to the body.

Therefore please do not even think of wearing more than

the stimulated time. Good luck and God bless. Cheers! :o)

Reply:Heel pain relief insoles rarely do what they say on the tin. Gel inserts will reduce shear forces but are exceptionally poor at cushioning yet the cause of the heel pain is rarely due to lack of cushioning. Insoles work by correcting foot position, unless you are excessively pronating (a tri-planer movement which would require custom made insoles) insoles will do little to benefit the problem. Without a full assessment to determine cause it is difficult to suggest a treatment regime, however i would suggest calf stretches every day, the benefit will not be felt for at least 4-6 weeks but it does work.

What are the best "over the counter" insoles with a good arch support for flat feet?

OK, my feet are practically flat, (even low arches are too high for me.) So solid plastic insoles were out of the question unless i wanted to pay 200 bucks to have some fitted.

Gel insoles have worked for me every time. The BEST are the full-foot liquid gel kind, (as opposed to the solid gel or heel/instep kind) But all gel types are better for flat feet.

They allow equal distribution of weight as would occur with flat feet. They also allow you to walk in a way that would help you develop arces (forming the foot so the gel forms in the middle.)

Which are better. Gel or Memory foam insoles ?

Which are more comfortable, and do either have really bad traits.

Which are better. Gel or Memory foam insoles ?
The answer is, try both. The memory foam is comfortable at first however it tends to be warm and loses it's "cushy" or cushion after a short time. The gel keeps its cushion but is harder to keep in place. I prefer the gel and use a small bit of double back tape to keep it in place. Good Luck%26gt;
Reply:gels are more effective.insoles accelerate memory naturally hence takes time and also efficiency will vary.but gels act in same manner for everybody.no bad effects from either
Reply:Even inexpensive ($7) insoles for the arch support work just fine.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).

Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).

Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Where do i get kimi height increasing insoles in gta area?

Where do i get kimi height increasing insoles in gta area?
I highly don't recommend shoes that increase ur height. What is your purpose of this ? I'm guessing you want to appear taller but what happens when you go swimming one day and that same person that thought you were 5'8 or 5'9 sees that ur only 5'5. He will say something about it and probably make fun of you because it's a huge difference.

Now if ur motive is to maybe get a girl or something and she gives u the time of day because ur 5'8 instead of 5'5 ( which i highly doubt ) wat happens when one day u go to her house and she tells u to kick ur shoes off....what u going to do ?

If ur height bothers you alot than just date a shorter girl. I had height problems to I'm 5'11 but always wanted to be 6'0 6'1 and I would tip toe around other people who are taller than me, it's stupid. I feel dumb now thinking about that.

Where can i get a pair of insoles to put in my shoe to cushion the navicular bone by the ankle?

Usually, you can go to your local Wal-Mart.

But, seing as how you know which bone you need to cushion, some insurances cover these items (under your Major Medical - Durable Medical Equiptment) if prescribed by your doctor. In that case, call your doctors phone nurse, get a prescription and ask where you can get this item and file it on your insurance. You won't be the first person to ask that question, so they will probably know. It may just go towards your deductible, but if you have to pay for them anyway, might as well go towards something. What are the best shock absorbing insoles for shin splints problem?

Look at running stores and find Spenco insoles.

What are the best shock absorbing insoles for shin splints problem?
Shin splints are the result of muscle imbalance. To prevent them, lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Slowly pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Hold for 1 or 2 seconds, then repeat. Try to work up to 2 or 3 sets of 10. An alternative or supplement to this is the standing toe raise. Just balance yourself, then raise one toe off the ground standing just on your heel. Then repeat with the other foot.

Good Luck
Reply:Insoles are not your answer. Make sure you have the right shoes for your foot type. This will ease shin splints better than any insole. Also, while you are having problems run on the softest surface you can find to lessen the impact forces on your legs.

Are Sole inserts or Replacement insoles for sneakers really worth the money?

The guy nat the shoe store sold me some. I do like them but feel like I was taken?

Are Sole inserts or Replacement insoles for sneakers really worth the money?
If you want or need extra motion control and support inserts are an excellent investment. They will actually keep your feet a lot more stable in the shoe and will keep your shoes from breaking down so quickly. I managed and sold sportshoes in a sportshoe store for eleven years. During that time, I had to work with a lot of foot doctors and their patients. The insoles that come with a shoe will break down within only a few weeks and the additional inserts will remain stable for at least six months or longer, depending on how much you were your shoes, your height and weight, and the type of activity you are using the shoes for. I did not work on commission, and would not as I cannot just sell things to people to make a buck. I still follow the same rules for my own footwear to this day. Enjoy your new footwear and have a good night.

Anyone know anything about Orthotic Insoles?

The custom made ones are £195 but the normal ones you can buy from the shop are £20.

Is there any problem with just buying the normal shop ones? Will they work?

Anyone know anything about Orthotic Insoles?
Custom orthotics are just what the name implies...custom. They are made to correct the exact problem that you have. If you have foot/gait issues, it will eventually affect your knees and hips and the musculature and bone and soft tissue of the lower extremities. If the issue is severe enough it can even have effect on the spine.

Store orthotics make your foot feel better in the shoe, they do not specifically correct your issue. If you have pes planus, they may help support the tissues of the arch, and if you pronate, they may help some, but not enough.

Normally store inserts are made completely of foam, sometimes a little plastic. Whereas, custom orthotics are molded and made for your foot. The support is better. Usually now they are made using a computer assisted gait analyser which produces an orthotic specifically designed for the physics required to correct your gait issues.

The cost is usually worth it in the long run. Also consider that if you have a gait abnormality, usually your shoes break down significantly faster, and you end up spending more on shoes, you may end up paying for the orthotics with the cost savings on shoes alone. Much less the savings on paracetamol and ibuprofen, and chiropractic later on.
Reply:Unfortunetly yes ! I had to pay £165.00 for custom made ones :( But they really do work.

And the normal shop ones will not work ,you need custom made ones.

Seriously they do work well!
Reply:I got some over the internet called "sole"; made in USA. You heat them in the oven and then stand in them for 2 minutes and they take up the shape of your foot. They have worked very well for me and cost about £35. Not all podiatrists charge as much as £195 either, you could shop around.
Reply:I have the normal shop ones - from Boots - and they're fine.
Reply:IF you have health ins, you can get them from a foot doctor for free.
Reply:it depends what the custom ones are being made for.

if you are over pronating - rolling your foot inwards when you are walking then shop ones will be fine, thats just about the only thing they correct.

if youhave a more sever problem like over supination - your foot rolling out, or some sort of deformity you will need custom insoles

Are those Dr. Scholls gel insoles any good?

They might be good for some, but they are no good for me.

I have to use gell insoles in my shoes to support my feet.Flying soon to America can I still go through x-ray
unless your insoles are moulded from plastic explosive there will not be a problem
Reply:Just let them examine them..they may remove the gel though....lots of people are in the same situation...what a terrible world we live in....
Reply:I heard today that gel insoles are now banned.
Reply:You will have to take your shoes off anyway to go through the x-rays. Insoles or no insoles. That will make no difference at all.
Reply:i hope so - its a valid point that you cus ask a check in person - i doubt they'll have a problem with it though
Reply:You might have just spotted a loop hole in the security checks. Remember that tvvat, the shoe bomber? He bit someone's hand as they tried to stop him using a clipper lighter to detonate himself. The pr!ck.
Reply:you have to take of your shoes..while passing through the security
Reply:You are now required to remove and place in checked baggage in the US.
Reply:I don't know if they would check that or not. They may make you remove them and dispose of them for safety reasons. At least they are not expensive. I would remove them and put them in my checked luggage. then replace them after you get to your destination.
Reply:You can probably get to USA no problem, but when you leave, USA will make you take off your shoes and send them through x-ray.
Reply:what ever they ask you to do, its for your safety and it gives you the satisfaction your about to board a comparatively safe plane if its a medical condition and you can prove it to security i guess they will co-operate to your satisfaction

Best type of shoes or insoles?

I work 8/10hrs a day walking on concrete floors and about after 4 hrs of walking my feet start to hurt. I was wondering if any one could tell me of a really good shoe or insert they have tried and even after working for 8 hrs your feet don't hurt. I currently have Nike and Sof Sole inserts but its not enough to keep my feet from hurting after 6hrs.

Best type of shoes or insoles?
Dansko clogs are very supportive, but have a high arch.

Its the only thing that keeps my feet/legs from throbbing. The clogs and some good support hose from CVS. (near the splints/knee braces, etc. )
Reply:You need a highly-cushioned shoe.

You should be buying the shoe for your foot regarding the degree of pronation you do when you walk or run.

I have three pairs of Nike Shox. You should try some on in the store. They fit like a sock to your feet and have a meshy covering which allows your foot to breathe. The "Shox" are the little columns under your heel that act like shocks in a car. The correct fit is important with these and for me they are true to size.

Note: A friend of mine has a patent leather version of Nike Shox. These are the squeakiest shoes I've ever heard. I wouldn't get those although they look great with more things than sneakers.

Hope your feet feel better.
Reply:k swiss shoes are really comfortable and those slide shoes you know the ones w/ the holes on top that nurses wear i know they arent that fashionable but they are so comfortable and you can get them at k mart for like 5-10 bucks i wear both of these to work and im on my feet 8-12 hrs a day.

Where can i get orthotic insoles for toddlers online?

My son has fibular hemimelia which means his one foot is thinner and smaller than the other so it's difficult to get shoes to fit. He has then provided by the hospital with a raise on them but we would like him to have other pairs. Any ideas?

Where can i get orthotic insoles for toddlers online?
my son is waiting for a appointment from the hospital on the same thing,

the hospital will make another one set because his feet are always growing and he will need measuring up again in a few months but get intouch with the hospital they should give you another pair.

Reply:you need to go back to hospital orthoptis to be fitted properly, its free anyway on nhs
Reply:My daughter wears special insoles to build up her instep because her instep is very flat and she kept falling over because of it. I went to my GP who referred me to a physiotherapist whom she now sees every 3/4 months to check progress and replace the insoles if necessary due to foot growth.
Reply:You should contact the appliance dept at the hospital, and ask them if they can provide other shoes/modifications with a view to you paying for them. We provide this service to our patients with similar requests, although we do let them have a few modifications per year which the NHS pays for.

Anyone here use KIMI insoles(the kind you wear inside your shoes)to increase height ?

if so , how tall did you grow in 3 months?

did you buy it off their website , www.growtaller.com?

do you think its a scam , because i am not sure they have very advanced explanations behind how it works?

Anyone here use KIMI insoles(the kind you wear inside your shoes)to increase height ?
No KIMI totally won't do a thing for you. There is actually still a chance that your growth plates are not completley closed yet. Some men still have open growth plates up to age 25, you should take advantage of 'last chance' to grow and make sure your body is producing enought HGH (human growth hormones) to sustain any more potential height gain, check out http://www.hghforheight.com there are many lifestyle factors that you can adopt to optimize your natural HGH production. If unfortunately that your growth plates are completely closed, you can still grow taller with spine lengthening technique which has been shown that it can add up to 2-3 inches to your overall height. Spine lengthening can be done with various stretching exercises, they are well-documented in http://www.giantscientific.com . Exercises like yoga or pilates have been very effective in elongating the spine, http://www.thepilatesguide.com
Reply:No, never. I just wear heels.

They are probably regular lifts--wedge inserts to put into your shoes. I think Ryan Seacrest wears them. Also the dictator of North Korea.
Reply:There is not much we can do to grow taller after puberty. There are many products in the market today that claim to increase height of adults, but they are all scams without sufficient scientific evidence. Surgical options, though available, are EXTREMELY RISKY and of course expensive. This leaves us with basically two options.

1.Stretching Exercises: - These exercises will help you improve your posture. You’ll be surprised that how much of “Height” is hidden behind your slouched back. You can, at any age, add an inch or two of height by simply improving your posture.

2.Second, you can create a “Taller” effect by following some smart fashion techniques. You can easily add another inch or two of “illusionary inches” by improving your dressing coordination. You can get more information on specific exercises and fashion ideas by following the link below:

What is a good insoles for feet with high arch?

What you need is nothing less than custom made orthotics.

I paid almost $300 for mine several years ago. I just switch them from one pair of shoes to the next depending on what I'm wearing on my feet.

What is a good insoles for feet with high arch?
Dr. Scholl's
Reply:dr.scholls
Reply:I have foot problems and I would urge anyone who does to find a Foot RX store. They make an insole that conforms to your foot. I know there are other stores that do this too and you may have to look for them but it's worth it.
Reply:Now they have these cusom made orthotics (insoles), they put your feet in a clay-like material getting the exact shape of them, you can go to any orthopedic doctor, they should be able to do them for you.
Reply:Depends on how bad and how much you are willing to pay. IsoArch and Foot Smart are good and not too outrageous. Arch Crafters for custom mades (but about a hundred bucks a pair too). Dr Kiper, Super Feet, and Spenco are others with money back guarantees. Go to an orthopedic shoe store. They'll fix you up.

Custom fitted shock aborber insoles?
A decent specialist running shop will have a variety of insoles, and help you determine what type (if any) are best for you
Reply:I use arch support inserts from the drug store. I continue to use them because they work. Arch support or the Tri-Comfort from Dr.Scholl's. That works for me.

How to clean shoe insoles?

You can wash them by soaking them in warm water and soap ,rinse and let dry .

How to clean shoe insoles?
Just wash them for 1 or 2 cycles in your washing machine. Let them air dry or dry in the dryer with a dryer sheet. That usually works
Reply:I would just wash it with a laudry soap/water and use a scrub brush it. rinse thoroughly and let them dry/or hang dry. I've used Dettol in my water and omitted the laundry soap to kill bacteria and odors. Works well.

Runners, do you use insoles for your running shoes?

Do they help? What brand would you recommend?

Runners, do you use insoles for your running shoes?
I work at a running store and i recommend you get a good pair of running shoes first. That usually corrects most problems.

But for insoles the brand i would recommend hands down is Superfeet. There about $35 but work wonders. I personally used them and I love them. They are hands down the best insoles available before you move up into doctor made insoles
Reply:Absolutely not. The running shoe by design, is supposed to be light and very comfortable. Insoles add unnecessary bulk and may add to your discomfort. If you think that you need insoles, you're probably not using the best brand for you. Shop around, I know that there are running shoes out there that you won't need insoles for.
Reply:I used them for several years but, like the other poster recommended, swiched shoes and now I dont' need them!
Reply:I went to a PT and got specialised orthopedics fitted after I damaged my IT band. They really help.
Reply:YES! I got prosoft I think is the brand from walmart. There were only about $10 and they are fabulous. ( I have terrible knees)
Reply:I've tried them. Good shoes are often enough for most, but I certainly advocate additional cushioning if you're hurting from the pounding.

I've tried the RRS Ortho Runner Insole. It helped some. At $30+, I wasn't blown away.

I think spending commensurately more on shoes would achieve the same result.

I also found that in marathon training they didn't hold up as well as I would have liked. They moved some, even though they were professionally fit.

if you are having significant problems, an orthopedist can really make a difference too, especially if they are sensitive to athletes.
