recruits may receive NOTHING except for Pictures, cards and letters during training. You will have to wait until he graduates and goes on to his follow on schooling.
Reply:When in doubt ask. So if you aren't sure ask your hubby, he should know what he can and can't have. I don't think they consider insoles bad, the soldier can't eat it or make a weapon out of it.
Reply:I don't know about the insoles, but from one long time army wife to you, if you are Army - as soon as you get to your first duty station, go to Army Community Services (ACS) and sign up for Army Family Team Building (AFTB)

They are free classes that'll teach you what you need to know to thrive in the Army life!!!
Reply:no. those are fine. He wiil, however, have to open the package in front of his DIs.
Reply:They should be ok. I went through basic like 17 years ago and they weren't a problem then.
Reply:As a former member of the military, I wouldn't think that Dr. Scholl's insoles would be considered contraband in basic training. In fact, the local post exchange probably carries the same thing. Send them fast!! Those combat boots can be hell on achy feet.
Reply:When i was in basic training about 3 years ago ... i know a few people that recieved stuff like that ... stuff like baby powder and feet care and hygiene products are allowed .... its all dependent upon the drill sgt's he has ... if they deem it contraband they wont let him have it ... no big deal theyll just take it ... and thne youll know when he writes to you ... supposing he does write to you that he cant recieve that or he can ... but insoles are life savers out there ..believe me ... it was nice haveing them .... tell em good luck and hang in there for em ... later
Reply:Send them.

Restrictions have been lifted quite a bit in the last 24 months and he should get them just fine.
