I can't believe that your department won't let you buy the black tennis made for this, granted they're about $80.00 but will last for years, they're light and airy and, made for walking. Get with it, your the one suffering.
Reply:Dude....go buy some Birkenstocks....and place the sole into your everyday work boot....this is usually made of cork...which over time will conform to the shape of your foot....I used to put them in my fire boots....and they worked great especially on those structure fires where I would be in my boots for 8-10 hours at a time.....Good Luck with the feet Buddy....
Reply:you need to go to a foot Dr and have him make you some inserts custom made to your feet. they will stop the pain and help straighten your spine. they are costly though...about $400-600. they are well worth it as you can take them out of your boots and use them with any other shoe. if you can't afford that, buy an insole that is very stiff. I'm talking hard! you need to support your feet NOT cushion them. good luck...buddy

Yes Bare Foot Science they build up your arches slowly and help alot! Try googling or if you live in Canada Orillia then go see Dr. Bell (chiropractor). They are probably also on ebay! Good Luck!

No i don't think there are insoles, wear soft flat shoes more often :)

Do both, it's what I did. Since you'll probably wear thicker socks in the winter, your boots will then fit better--and insoles just help out everything in comfort.

Try getting insoles.... sometimes if you get a size bigger then they don't fit right and you could twist you ankle

I enjoy hiking. I don't hurt anywhere except for my feet. I've tried different boots and insoles. Help!

My feet have high arches, this I know. I am now wearing a keen targhee II boot. I know about stretches I should do, taking anti inflammatories, no I do not have heel spurs, and my boots are fitted very well. So what does this leave me with? I don't know if custom orthotics are the answer, if I should get the most cushioned boot I can find (which one?) or if I am just going to have to hike through the pain like I have done for years. Let me know what you think.

Reply:Go to a place like REI - a store or online if you have to. They have expert advice and people who work there would be able to help you get boots that fit for certain arch levels. Also, if you get blisters, try buying moleskin to put over problem areas. It's like putting a thicker band-aid on your feet so rubbing and pressure is less of a problem. If this isn't enough, maybe talk to a podiatrist.

I don't know of any specific place, but most shoe repair shops custom make lifts for shoes. Do a search online or in the yellow pages in Miami for places.
