I get numb feet when i am cycling, what kind of insoles should i buy for my cycling shoes?

I have a new pair of nike kato cycling shoes, but after wearing them for only a short period of time whilst off road cycling, the soles of my feet go numb. The shoes fit perfectly, and i don%26#039;t get cold feet or have circulation problems. Should i get insoles? If so what kind?

I take it nothing has changed on the rest of your bike set-up/components and that you are used to riding off-road?

Insoles could make it worse as the fit might be tighter. Immediately after the next ride; check you don%26#039;t have any red chafing marks on you feet. It sounds like your shoes are too tight somewhere, rubbing or squeezing your toes/a nerve.

Don%26#039;t just buy insoles, try a few more rides, you may just need to get used to the shoes and bed them in a little to the shape of your feet. Ask more experienced riders/friends if they can spot the problem. If it doesn%26#039;t get better visit a podiatrist to see if the cause can be isolated.
Reply:Great!, glad to hear it helped.

Play around till you get a good tightness and if it is not too hot where you live, try thicker socks, this will fill out your shoes and give a better fit. you may not even need heel pads.

Good riding! Report It

Reply:I don%26#039;t know anything about insoles.

However, it could be you are cinching the shoes up too tightly. Or your feet are swelling after a short while. I have to be careful not to cinch my shoes to tightly at the beginnings of rides. Try leaving the straps a bit looser and see if it helps.

Also, be sure the insole of the shoes are nice and smooth. If the screws that hold the cleat in place, for example, are above the level of the insole they may be putting pressure on the nerves in your foot and making them feel numb.

Hope this helps.
Reply:1. make sure you bike is set up properly or %26quot;get fitted%26quot; at your local bike shop

2. the saddle can cause pinching and can lead to numbness in your feet

3. make sure the shoes are snug but not too tight

4. don%26#039;t forget to stand up once in a while during long rides
Reply:Hush Puppies or Lullabye bedroom slippers. Both available at Walmart, K-mart, Walgreen%26#039;s or other discount retailers. You may need to buy additional hardware to install the cleats, but well worth the comfort. If you go with the bedroom slippers, don%26#039;t get the one%26#039;s with bunny ears. The fluffy material will slow you down against the wind.
Reply:there may be 2 things, the first is a too high up seat the second is too tight shoes or may be both
Reply:You might want to try Specialized%26#039; BG (Body Geometry) Footbed, or better still, their shoes!
